Northern Ireland Customs Declaration Service

Are you looking to outsource your Trader Support Service (TSS) declarations?

"Hello, thank you for visiting our website"

We provide an outsource solution for companies in regards to their Trader Support Service (TSS) submissions when goods move GB to NI.

Our service is suitable for:

  • Both Suppliers in GB and Buyers in NI who receive supplementary declarations to complete after the goods have moved, or

  • Companies who use their own vehicles to transport goods GB-NI and require customs documentation before the goods move.

Below is a short breakdown of the services we offer:

Supplementary Declarations

  • Submit declarations on your behalf through TSS and act as your customs agent
  • Backlog support for companies with a high volume of outstanding

Pre Movement Declarations

  • Entry Summary Declarations (ENS / DEC)
  • GMR Ferry Port Pass Generation (GMR via GVMS)

Additional Services

  • TSS Portal Account Management from providing guidance and advice to ensuring your company is set up and positioned correctly for the future.

  • Internal Market Movement Information (IMMI) ready. As we get closer to the changes due in September, we are ready to support our clients with these changes and able to submit IMMI submissions on your behalf.

You may be aware of the introduction of custom declarations now being a legal requirement for goods moved between GB-NI. With these changes we understand the added pressures put onto businesses affected.

Many companies have struggled with the additional admin time requirements involved with submitting their declarations... not including training and learning all aspects of import and export for the business as well as the Trader Support Service (TSS) platform itself.

We provide a service that aims to relieve the admin time for companies and let you get back to the day to day running of the business.

What options are available for your business and is appointing a customs agent the right fit?

How have other companies responded?

To answer the first question it's good practice to look at what other companies are doing. The most common resolution companies have implemented to tackle these issues is to add the submission of supplementary declarations (SUP) as an additional responsibility to an existing employee which takes both time and skills away from the business, that employee isn't focusing on aspects of the business they were originally employed for.

Others have employed additional personnel and created a new job title within their business solely to action these new requirements. Which in itself comes with all the legalities, contracts and costs you would expect. This can prove difficult should the purchasing or sales between Great Britain and Northern Ireland reduce thus affecting the role requirement in the business.

Worst case scenario...

Every business is different and after reviewing the above most are not in the position to action those internal changes. Either because staff are already stretched with current roles and responsibilities or the company is operating on a reduced head count.

Others simply cannot justify employing new staff after factoring in all the hiring and ongoing costs involved such as National Insurance Contributions, Pension, Holiday, Sick Pay and more.

The true cost of an employee is unlikely to be less than 1.7 times basic salary. Even on minimum wage working a standard 37.5 hour week, this can be an ongoing additional expense of at least £37k per annum. Not to mention finding the right person with the import/export skills and knowledge. As a result unfortunately some companies have ceased trading between GB to NI.

Is Outsourcing right for your business?

We like to think so, the above are only a few real life situations we hear much to often. Outsourcing those skill sets and admin time keeps the costs low and allows you to keep your focus on the day to day running and growth of your company. The added benefit is, unlike taking on additional personnel there are no fixed monthly outgoing. The service we offer is closer to a pay and go service, thus can be used as and when you require.

As an example if you sell seasonal products resulting in some months with no goods movements. Then you are not tied into a monthly outgoing such as a salary keeping you in full control of the companies monthly expenditure.

"Navigating the world of customs can be difficult, we can help you save both time and costs within your business"

How can we help?

Trader Support Service (TSS) outsource solution

We supply businesses with the option to outsource those requirements and submit declarations on your behalf using the Trader Support Service (TSS) platform. For the majority of our clients we support, this is in relation to Supplementary Declarations (SUP) but we can also support with Entry Summary Declarations (ENS & DEC) and GMR PortPass if you move the goods yourselves.

We understand that with the amount of information and links available it can become overwhelming and a full time position within a company in it's own right which is why we are proud to provide the service and expertise to help and support companies of all sizes.

We are committed to creating long lasting business relationships and unlike other services we prefer to take the personalised approach and truly understand your business needs to become a company that you can turn to.

There are many options when it comes to declaring your goods and if submitted incorrectly this can result in customs duties being owed, affecting your final landed price or cost of sale reducing your margins.

We review each company and provide personalised advice and action the most suitable options for your business needs and requirements to make sure the company is in the best possible position for trade between GB-NI.

Our simplified pricing structure is all inclusive per declaration which can be tailored to suit individual company requirements. From the less frequent trader looking to keep their customers or suppliers to large volume business and haulage companies with competitive discounts applied.

It is important to note that after reviewing your declarations if any duties are due we can discuss options available with you for your business before processing. We will never submit any declarations that will result in import duties or any unexpected fees being attracted unless previously discussed with yourselves prior.

It is rare a company should be required to pay import duty for GB-NI movements. Part of our service is to look at the goods you are moving as well as an overall company health check and discuss your options available to waiver these costs prior to submitting. From there we can make recommendations to best suit your company moving forward.

Before the goods move GB-NI

We can support with customs documentation for any or all parts of your journey. This service is popular with our clients who move their own goods whether that be for a customer or exhibitions etc. We would complete everything required to enable you to board the ferry and declare the goods moving to Northern Ireland. You would simply book your ferry, complete our short form and we will reply with your Port Pass / GMR.

This service is popular with our clients who either use a freight company to ship their goods to their customers in Northern Ireland or for companies in Northern Ireland who have purchased from a supplier in GB and receive a Supplementary Declarations to be completed. Supplementary Declarations (Backlog)

Quote

Similar to our monthly service, some of our clients have a backlog of older declarations which we can support with. Naturally with a increased number and high volume... price is negotiable and we would be happy to discuss to find the right price.

Additional Notes:

Payment Terms

We offer competitive payment terms and frequencies for each of our clients that best fits your company.

Confidential Relationship

When a company outsources a service, it is common that party will require information to enable them to carry out the service. In our line of work this could include invoices giving us visibility of suppliers, customers and pricing for example. We take this sensitive information seriously and aware as a company it is very important you have safeguards in place. For this reason we sign a non-disclosure agreement with each client we work.

Import Duties

We will never submit any declarations that will result in import duties or any unexpected fees being attracted unless previously discussed with yourselves prior. It is rare a company should be required to pay import duty for GB-NI movements. Part of our service is to look at the goods you are moving as well as an overall company health check and discuss your options available to waiver these costs prior to submitting. From there we can make recommendations to best suit your company.
